Drainage Services Pricing Options
DRAINS 'R' US is a plumbing maintenance business specialising in residential sewer and stormwater drainage services. We are a long established traditional plumbing business providing pricing options that have been used by the plumbing industry for over 150 years. We provide a fixed price quotation for all work we can visually inspect and for work we cannot visually inspect we provide do & charge rates or a fixed fee. The following pricing options relate to the following services.

Quotation
Definition: We arrange a time to visit your home to carry out a detailed visual inspection of the proposed work to obtain enough information to accurately estimate time, plant, equipment, materials and other requirements to complete a job. A fixed price quotation / contract specific for your circumstances is emailed for your consideration.​​​

Quotations are provided free of charge without obligation and valid for 14 days.

Quotations are only supplied for work that can be visually inspected.

Used for customized work or services where costs vary.

Depending on the type and complexity of the work the contract may have exclusions.

Do & Charge
Definition: We use this pricing option when we are unable to visually inspect the proposed work. It involves us providing a do & charge rate for time and equipment then billing for actual time, equipment and materials used to complete a job. As a visual inspection of the job requirements is not possible, there is no fixed time to complete the work or predetermined total price upfront.​
​Key Characteristics: ​

Used for work where a visual inspection of the job requirements is not possible meaning the scope of work is concealed, buried, unpredictable, unknown or subject to change.

Final cost depends on the amount of time, equipment and materials used.

For high-pressure water jetting and CCTV drain camera inspections a minimum of one hour’s service is charged consisting of service call, labour and equipment charges then billed in 30-minute increments thereafter consisting of a labour and an equipment charge. Do & charge rates can be broken down into their individual components if requested.

Do & charge rates will vary based on the type and combination of services we supply.

95% of all do & charge work is completed within 4 hours.

As a visual inspection of the job requirements is not possible, visiting your home is not required. For that reason, do & charge rates are provided over the phone, and work is booked in for the next available time and appointment and pricing information provided via text for your prior approval.

A site inspection is required and a written contract provided for certain types of larger do & charge work.

Sometimes referred to as "time and materials pricing (T&M)."
Fixed Fee
Definition: This pricing option is provided for homeowners who prefer a fixed fee rather than paying do & charge rates for clearing certain types of sewer line blockages. It is a predetermined and agreed-upon price for a specific job type, regardless of the time, equipment or materials involved.​​

Offers a fixed fee for concealed, buried or unpredictable work that cannot be visually inspected.

For blocked drains our fixed fee only covers the process of clearing and inspecting a sewer waste blockage or a sewer tree root blockage via existing suitable and accessible outdoor sewer cleanouts.

We offer 3 fixed fees for clearing a blocked sewer line via cleanouts.​

​A sewer waste blockage cleared using manual hand tools only.

A sewer waste blockage requiring high-pressure water jetting.​

A sewer tree root blockage requiring high-pressure water jetting and tree root cutting.

If your existing cleanouts are not suitable or not accessible or no cleanouts are available any extra work needed to access your underground drains prior to drain clearing work such as but not limited to excavation, or the removal of fixtures will incur extra labour and / or material charges.

We do not offer this pricing option for clearing blocked stormwater drains, clearing sewer line blockages caused by foreign objects or collapsed drains or dedicated CCTV drain camera inspections.

If for whatever reason the cause of the blockage is something other than a sewer waste blockage or sewer tree root blockage any work we carry out will be charged for on a do & charge basis.
